Harrogate Town played a very useful practice match against Ossett Town at the CNG Stadium on Tuesday evening.
The home side opened the scoring after 14 minutes of play, Matty YOUNG turned in the box before unleashing his shot. Town were awarded a very fortuitous penalty on 37 minutes, but justice was probably done when Darren Dunning's spot kick was saved by Ossett's stand in 'keeper. On 43 minutes Jamie SMITH doubled Town's advantage, planting the ball into the corner of the net with his header from Young's excellent cross. Before half-time Smith saw another effort hit the bar.
After the interval, Town extended their advantage. Dunning's corner kick found Justin WHITTLE's head, the Ossett defence struggled to make a clearance, and the ball bounced in off the under-side of the cross bar. SMITH then scored his second goal of the evening on 56 minutes when he pounced from close range.
Next up for Town is the visit of Leeds United to the CNG Stadium on Saturday (3.00pm).
